All Integrations

ToolsOnAir

ToolsOnAir's broadcast production tools connect directly to Iconik, so recorded content is searchable, reviewable, and ready for collaboration without a separate ingest step.

Iconik + ToolsOnAir Integrations Overview

Broadcast and live production teams capture a lot of material. The problem isn't recording it — it's how long it takes before anyone else can work with it. Files sit on local servers while editors, producers, and remote collaborators wait for ingest to finish, proxies to generate, and uploads to complete.

ToolsOnAir builds professional, software-defined tools for recording, ingest, and live production. Both of its main products — just:in mac and CORE I/O — integrate directly with Iconik, so the moment content is captured, it's already part of your media workflow. High-resolution masters stay where they make operational and financial sense. Everything your team needs to review, organize, and act on moves to Iconik automatically.

just:in mac

Automated ingest. Assets in Iconik as recording ends.

just:in mac is ToolsOnAir's professional ingest and playout application for Mac and Linux. When connected to Iconik, it handles asset registration, proxy generation, and file management automatically, so your team isn't chasing files or running manual uploads after every recording.

What happens when you connect just:in mac

Assets registered as recording starts just:in mac creates the corresponding Iconik asset at the start of recording. The asset exists in Iconik before the file is finished — ready for metadata, organization, and review as soon as the proxy is available.

Proxy generated and uploaded automatically When recording stops, just:in mac generates an H.264 proxy and uploads it to Iconik without manual intervention. The asset becomes viewable in the Iconik web player as soon as the upload completes.

High-res stays where it belongs Depending on your ISG (Iconik Storage Gateway) configuration, the high-resolution master can be moved automatically to Iconik-managed storage or remain on premises. You control which assets move to the cloud and which stay local.

Works with single and multichannel setups The integration supports both single-channel and multichannel recording configurations, so it fits into existing ingest workflows without requiring a rebuild.

CORE I/O

Live recordings in Iconik from the first frame.

CORE I/O is ToolsOnAir's professional, software-defined broadcast server for multi-channel recording, playout, and live signal transcoding. Its Iconik integration goes deeper: assets are created the moment recording begins, a live HLS stream is available inside Iconik while capture is still in progress, and metadata syncs in real time.

What happens when you connect CORE I/O

Asset creation starts when recording starts

The moment an operator hits record, CORE I/O registers the asset in Iconik. No waiting for the file to finish. No manual ingest step afterward.

Watch the live feed inside Iconik

An optional HLS proxy streams the incoming recording directly into the Iconik interface while capture is in progress. Editors, producers, and remote team members can monitor the feed, add metadata, and begin planning from the first frame.

High-res stays where it belongs

Broadcast masters are written to local or on-premises storage. Iconik works from proxies, so your team gets immediate cloud access and collaboration without requiring every high-resolution file to transfer to the cloud right away.

Metadata flows both ways, in real time

CORE I/O pulls metadata views directly from Iconik, so operators enter information once — in their existing interface — and it syncs to Iconik instantly. The asset is updated automatically when recording ends.

No terminal work, no manual file configuration

Administrators connect through the CORE I/O web interface using Iconik credentials. Available domains, storage locations, and metadata views populate automatically. Recording profiles are configured in advance; operators pick a profile, name the file, and start.

Who it's for

For broadcast and live production teams

The gap between capture and collaboration is where production time gets lost. Files finish recording, wait for processing, get uploaded, and only then can anyone outside the control room see them. In fast-turnaround environments — sports, news, live events, corporate production — that wait has a cost.

Both just:in mac and CORE I/O close that gap from different angles. just:in mac brings clean, automated ingest into Iconik for file-based workflows. CORE I/O goes further: your team can log shots, add metadata, review incoming material, and begin editorial planning while the recording is still running.

For IT and infrastructure teams

High-resolution broadcast content is expensive to move. Neither integration requires you to push everything to the cloud. High-res masters stay on premises or in cost-controlled storage; Iconik works from proxies. The ISG manages what moves, when, and where, so your storage architecture doesn't change, and your team still gets full Iconik functionality on top of it.
